What Amplify backs (so the list maps tightly)
- Sectors: climate, health, and education/future-of-work. Amplify Capital
- Stage & cheque: early (pre-seed to Series A), typical initial cheques around $0.5–$1M with follow-ons. Amplify Capital
- Geography: Canada-first with North America upside. Amplify Capital
How I picked these
- Started with a compiled dataset of Crunchbase, Pitchbook, Trxn and Linkedin and filtered to Canadian companies in Amplify sectors and then took VC network/coinvestors suggestions on the best startups and made sure their previous funding round was 12-20 months before.
- Cross-checked each pick with recent, reputable sources (press releases, company sites, trade media).
- I kept non-dilutive grants within 5 months if there was no new equity round, since that often strengthens runway and lowers risk ahead of a priced raise.
